On August 28 local time, the Sudanese civil organization "Sudan Doctors Network" issued a statement stating that the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan, Fashir, was heavily shelled on the 27th, resulting in the deaths of 24 civilians and 55 others injured. The statement indicated that several neighborhoods in the center of Fashir sustained heavy damage from the shelling, resulting in civilian casualties. The statement mentioned that the Sudan Rapid Support Forces launched the shelling and condemned the organization for conducting military operations against densely populated residential areas, openly violating international law and international humanitarian law. The statement also stated that Fashir has been under siege for a long time, facing severe shortages of food, medicine, and other supplies, and called on the international community to take urgent action to lift the siege of Fashir by the Rapid Support Forces.
