The Hong Kong Observatory stated that a broad low-pressure area in the northern part of the South China Sea is taking a southerly path in the evening, currently located more than 800 kilometers away from Hong Kong. This broad low-pressure area is consolidating and is expected to gradually develop into a tropical cyclone today, and enter the 800-kilometer radius of Hong Kong later today. The Observatory will consider issuing a Number 1 standby signal tonight.
