Venezuela announced an increase in military deployment along the border with Colombia to carry out security operations.
On August 26th, local time, Venezuelan Defense Minister Lopez announced through social media that a security operation will be launched on the border between the states of Tachira and Sucre in Venezuela. 15,000 military and civilian police joint force members will be deployed to combat drug trafficking activities along the Venezuela-Colombia border and promote peace and development in the border areas of the two countries. Lopez also announced that naval patrol fleets will be deployed to the Gulf of Venezuela and large ships will be sent to the waters of the Caribbean Sea.
