Bank of England policy committee member Mann advocates keeping interest rates unchanged in the context of price stickiness.
Catherine Mann, a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England, stated that the borrowing costs should be kept at their current level for a longer period of time to prevent persistent high inflation in the UK. Mann said in a speech in Mexico on Tuesday that, given her underlying assumption that elevated price pressures will persist for longer, "it is appropriate to currently maintain the benchmark interest rate for a longer period." Mann is one of the most hawkish voices within the Bank of England and was one of the four rate-setters who opposed a 25 basis point cut in the benchmark interest rate earlier this month.
