Baltic Dry Index rises to more than one-week high as demand for various types of ships increases.

On August 26th, the Baltic Dry Index rose to its highest level in over a week as demand for all types of ships increased. The Baltic Dry Index increased by 97 points, or 5%, to 2041 points, its highest level since August 15th. The Capesize Index rose by 238 points, or 8.5%, to 3031 points. Capesize ships saw a daily profit increase of $1980 to $25140. The Panamax Index rose by 48 points, or 2.7%, to 1818 points, reaching its highest level since July 25th. Panamax ships saw a daily profit increase of $431 to $16363. The Supramax Index rose by 13 points, or 0.9%, to 1437 points. The Handysize Index rose by 10 points, to 735 points.
