Peng Shou, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief scientist of China Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., stated on August 26 that whether it is to build a new "good house" or to renovate an old house into a "good house", it cannot be separated from the support of "good materials" in innovative applications. Currently, China is continuously promoting the energy-saving transformation of building materials, constantly reducing the level of building carbon emissions, and improving building operational energy efficiency. China Building Materials Group Co., Ltd. held an event in Beijing on the 26th to showcase innovative achievements in engineering construction materials and the sixth "Resource Utilization Day" open event. Peng Shou said at the event that China has established a complete building materials system, including 30 subcategories and over 1000 products such as cement, glass, ceramics, making it the world's largest producer and consumer of building materials. In recent years, China has continuously strengthened the energy-saving transformation of building materials, with products like low-carbon concrete and composite gypsum board widely used in building doors, windows, structures, walls, and other areas, pushing for a reduction of over 60% in building operational energy consumption. However, there is still a gap towards the zero-carbon goal for building carbon emissions, and further efforts are needed to strengthen the innovation and deployment of new advanced energy-saving materials.
