On August 26th, a netizen posted online about the "sudden sounding of an air raid siren in Haikou late at night," sparking the attention and discussion of some citizens. The Haikou Civil Air Defense Office issued a statement explaining the situation: After on-site investigations, equipment testing, and verification by a working group, in the early hours of August 26th, the broadcast system at Haikou Hairui School located at 35 Hairui Road in Longhua District experienced a sudden malfunction that automatically triggered the playback of an emergency signal. The sound frequency and volume characteristics of this emergency signal were highly similar to those of an air raid alarm, leading to a misunderstanding among nearby residents who mistakenly believed it was an air raid alarm sounding in error. This incident was not caused by a malfunction or mishandling of the air raid alarm system, and the Haikou air raid alarm system is currently operating normally.
