On August 26, the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of Tianxin District, Changsha City, issued a situation report: On August 25, some media reported that individual merchants in our district were suspected of processing and selling "slimming" steel bars. The market supervision department immediately organized law enforcement officers to rush to the scene to investigate and dispose of the situation, and samples of the products involved were sent for testing. Next, our bureau will strictly handle any illegal behavior discovered based on the test results, and promptly disclose the handling results to the public. Previously, according to reports from Urban Scene, Hunan Steel Market is the largest steel trading hub in Hunan with an annual throughput capacity of over 3 million tons, and is home to hundreds of steel-related companies. Reporters observed that some merchants were selling "slimming" steel bars, which are steel bars that have been forcibly reduced in diameter by cold drawing, cutting, and stretching, deviating from national standards. This may affect the stability of the internal structure of the steel bars, posing a great threat to building safety. These steel bars have already entered the market. During visits, some merchants in the market claimed that although "slimming" steel bars cannot bear weight, there is no visible difference to the naked eye. Some even bluntly stated: if you want national standard, we have national standard; if you want non-standard, we have non-standard steel bars.
