The National Energy Administration will accelerate the construction of a new type of power system and comprehensively enhance its adaptability to new energy sources.

Director Du Zhongming of the Power Department of the National Energy Administration stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on August 26 that with the rapid expansion of China's new energy scale, some regions are facing pressure in utilizing new energy, which is a growing headache for new energy. Doing a good job in new energy integration is a systematic project. Facing the intermittency, randomness, and volatility of wind and solar power generation, the National Energy Administration will accelerate the construction of a new type of power system and comprehensively improve the adaptability of the power system to new energy. Firstly, to address the instability of new energy output, it will accelerate the construction of system-friendly new energy power plants; secondly, it will coordinate and strengthen the construction of the main grid, distribution grid, and microgrid, improve the comprehensive carrying capacity of the power grid, and meet the requirements of large-scale new energy grid connection; thirdly, it will accelerate the construction of a national unified electricity market system, improve the electricity market mechanism that is compatible with the characteristics of new energy generation; fourthly, it will steadily expand the scale of aggregated virtual power plants, expand the scale of vehicle-grid interaction application, and better promote the local integration of new energy; fifthly, it will develop new formats such as direct access to green electricity for near integration of new energy, expand new energy integration scenarios, and improve the efficiency of new energy resource utilization.
