On August 26, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment held its routine press conference for August. The spokesperson of the Ministry, Pei Xiaofei, stated that at the recent Central Urban Work Conference, seven key tasks for urban work were deployed, and "actively building beautiful cities that are green and low-carbon" is one of them. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment is deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the conference. Based on the already issued "Implementation Plan for Building Beautiful Cities", efforts to promote the construction of beautiful cities will be intensified, supporting local governments in integrating the construction of beautiful cities, providing enhanced classification guidance, encouraging exploration of unique ecological environment governance models based on the characteristics of cities such as in the east, middle, west, coastal, inland, plain, mountainous, and riverside areas, as well as island oases. Next, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will continue to adhere to tailored and classified guidance, assisting in building modern people-oriented cities that are innovative, livable, beautiful, resilient, civilized, and wise according to local conditions. At the same time, efforts will be made to further strengthen the effectiveness of ecological environment governance, promote synergistic effectiveness in reducing pollution, lowering carbon emissions, and expanding green areas, enhance urban biodiversity, and actively build beautiful cities that are green and low-carbon.
