On August 25th, the Governor of Anhui Province, Wang Qingxian, conducted research on the future industry of fusion energy in Hefei City. He emphasized the need to seize the key window period for technological breakthroughs in fusion energy, and to accelerate the engineering, industrialization, and commercialization of fusion energy. During the research, Wang Qingxian presided over a discussion forum and listened to opinions and suggestions from academicians, experts, and entrepreneurs. He pointed out the importance of understanding the global competitive landscape of fusion energy, continuously advancing key technological research, and forming a systematic competitive advantage. It is necessary to promote deep integration of politics, industry, academia, research, finance, and construct a full-chain incubation and transformation innovative carrier to gather more innovation and industrial resources. It is essential to deepen institutional and mechanism innovation and attract more social capital participation. It is worth noting that recently, the Energy Research Institute of the Comprehensive National Science Center in Hefei and the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have made significant progress in the core feeding experiment research of large tokamaks. Using the compact toroidal injection technology on EAST to achieve core feeding is the first physical experiment of this technology for large tokamaks internationally. This work is of great significance for the research and development of compact toroidal injection technology.
