American institutions suggest adding copper and potassium fertilizer to the list of key mineral resources, paving the way for broader policy support.
According to the Wall Street Journal app, the US Geological Survey recommends that copper and potash be included in the draft list of critical minerals, paving the way for these industries to receive more widespread policy support. According to a notice seeking public opinion in the Federal Register, these two minerals, along with lead, rhenium, silicon, and silver, are included in the 2025 version of the list containing 54 critical minerals. The US Geological Survey also stated that it plans to analyze the possibility of including uranium and metallurgical coal on the list. Arsenic and tellurium, on the other hand, are suggested to be removed.
