The United States Geological Survey proposes to include copper and potassium salts in the list of key mineral resources.

According to a notice in the Federal Register, the U.S. Geological Survey has released a draft list of mineral commodities that are proposed to be included in the critical minerals list for 2025. The minerals included in the draft list are aluminum, cobalt, copper, potash, and silicon.
