On Monday (August 25th), the New York spot gold price fell by 0.19% to $3365.59 per ounce at the close. Most of the day saw the price fluctuating at a low level, but with the opening of the US stock market, there was a wave of price increases - however, more than half of these gains were later given back at the close. COMEX gold futures fell by 0.25% to $3409.90 per ounce. The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index closed up by 0.07% at 239.40 points, continuing to reach new closing highs, but with limited volatility throughout the day.
