The Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of Transport Liu Wei conducted a research in Hubei Province on August 24th and 25th, and presided over a symposium at the Yangtze River Navigation Management Bureau to understand the work situation of the Changjiang system and listen to opinions and suggestions. He emphasized the need to fully promote the construction of the new waterway of the Three Gorges, establish sound working mechanisms, effectively ensure navigation safety, manage the navigation and operation of existing buildings, actively promote the construction of shipping facilities and monitor the entire project construction process. Efforts should be made to create a golden waterway throughout the basin, continuously improve the capacity of the main navigation channels, actively promote the connection of main and branch channels, accelerate the construction of smart navigation channels and the development of intelligent vessels, and scientifically formulate the "13th Five-Year Plan" for the Changjiang system. It is necessary to firmly hold onto the bottom line of safety production, effectively implement measures for flood prevention, prevention of ship collisions, and prevention of geological disasters, and make every effort to ensure smooth navigation, safety during important periods, and safe navigation during the construction period.
