Shanghai: Adjusting long-term care insurance policies to better meet the needs of elderly people with disabilities in caring services.
According to the Shanghai government's announcement, Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor, chaired the executive meeting of the municipal government today. The meeting tentatively agreed to increase the payment standards for long-term care insurance for elderly care institutions and pointed out that the core purpose of raising the payment standards for long-term care insurance is to relieve the burden on disabled elderly people in care institutions and to allow them to enjoy higher quality, more professional, and more reassuring care services. It is important to ensure that pro-people policies are accurately implemented and produce actual effects, genuinely carrying out good deeds and practical actions. Guidance will be given to all elderly care institutions to adhere to higher standards, enhance service capabilities, improve care conditions, optimize staffing, strengthen the professional skills and ethical standards of caregivers, and ensure that policy benefits genuinely reach the target beneficiaries. Efforts will be made to promote industry development and expand the silver economy. Continuing to leverage the "value-based purchasing" role of long-term care insurance, guiding and driving innovation in supply-side concepts, models, and technologies for elderly care services; encouraging and supporting business entities to further develop and expand elderly care service brands and industries, continuously stimulating silver consumer spending, and achieving a win-win situation for people's livelihood security and industry development.
