Due to tariff reasons, Swiss Post will suspend the transportation of goods from the United States starting from August 26th. In a statement, Swiss Post pointed out that the U.S. government has decided to cancel the current $800 tax-free import threshold policy starting from August 29th, 2025. After the tax-free threshold is cancelled, all goods, regardless of size or value, must be declared to U.S. customs and complete customs clearance procedures. The United States has also introduced new customs clearance regulations, which significantly differ from the existing rules of the Universal Postal Union. The new regulations require all goods entering the United States to be transported with pre-paid tariffs. Therefore, like other postal companies, Swiss Post is forced to temporarily suspend its transportation services for goods destined for the United States. This decision was made after close consultations between Swiss Post and various national regulatory agencies such as the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, the Federal Communications Office, and the Postal Regulatory Authority.
