Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government: Allow the use of cross-border private cars at the Hong Yuan border control station to pass through the Lok Ma Chau border control station during overnight hours.
The Transport Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced today that private cars with cross-border quotas to enter Lo Wu Control Point can still transit through the control point outside of operating hours. The governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong have reached an agreement to allow cross-border private cars holding a "Closed Road Permit" for Lo Wu Control Point to pass through the Lowu Control Point from midnight to 6:30 am starting from August 26. A spokesperson for the Transport Department stated that this arrangement will help promote further integration between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and enhance passenger clearance efficiency. The governments of Guangdong and Hong Kong will continue to cooperate closely to provide ongoing support for economic development in both regions. The Transport Department has sent notifications to the holders of cross-border private car permits for Lo Wu Control Point regarding the arrangement. They only need to carry a valid permit for Lo Wu Control Point to pass through the Lowu Control Point during the specified time period. Currently, cross-border private cars with permits from Shenzhen Bay Port, Wenjindu, and Sha Tau Kok Control Points can pass through the Lowu Control Point during the overnight period.
