The dredging project of the Yangtze River main artery in the Yichang section has started. 5,000-ton ships will be able to travel directly from Wuhan to Chongqing.

On the morning of August 20th, with the arrival of five dredging vessels including Changying 8 and Ezhonggang Floating 002 Wheel, the maintenance and dredging project of the Yichang section of the Yangtze River main channel officially started in the Zhijiang Waterway and Jiangkou Waterway. It is expected that after the completion of the project, the water depth of the Yichang-Wuhan section of the Yangtze River during the dry season will be raised to 4.5 meters, and 5000-ton ships will be able to fully load and travel from Wuhan to Chongqing.
