Hainan issues a level-two typhoon warning.

Hainan Provincial Government issued a level two typhoon warning on August 23, 2025 at 19:40: Typhoon "Swordfish", with its center located at 17.6 degrees north latitude and 114.3 degrees east longitude at 19:00 on the same day, approximately 510 kilometers east of Sanya City in the sea, with maximum winds near the center reaching level 10, and a radius of gale-force winds of 150-220 kilometers. It is predicted that "Swordfish" will continue to move in a westward direction at a speed of about 25 kilometers per hour, rapidly intensifying in strength, gradually approaching the southern coast of Hainan Island, and is expected to make landfall in Sanya, Hainan Island on the afternoon or evening of the 24th, thereafter moving towards the central and northern coast of Vietnam. Typhoon "Swordfish" may become the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Sanya in nearly 40 years.
