Wildfires are still raging in many parts of Spain, and firefighting faces a huge challenge.
For the past two weeks, continuous heatwaves and droughts have plunged the entire Iberian Peninsula into extreme fire danger. At least 7 people have died and dozens have been injured in Spain and Portugal, with nearly ten thousand people forced to evacuate. The areas burned in the two countries are over 400,000 hectares and 270,000 hectares respectively. 2025 has become one of the worst years for wildfires in the history of the Iberian Peninsula.
