Canada will cancel retaliatory tariffs on a series of American products that comply with existing North American trade agreements, aiming to ease tensions with the White House. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to announce this decision on Friday after meeting with cabinet members. According to sources, the government will adjust its tariff policy to align more closely with measures taken by the United States. This means that as long as consumer goods manufactured in the United States meet the requirements of the USMCA, they will no longer face a 25% tariff when imported into Canada. However, the government may continue to impose a 25% import tax on American steel and aluminum products, as well as tariffs on American cars. President Donald Trump has already implemented taxes in these areas. This move is also to pave the way for the review of the USMCA, which is expected to begin in the coming months.
