Hainan initiates level IV emergency response for typhoon prevention at sea.
The Disaster Prevention and Reduction Committee of Hainan Province has issued a message, deciding to activate a level IV emergency response for typhoon prevention at sea on August 22, 2025 at 17:00. According to meteorological and ocean forecasts, a tropical depression east of the Philippines has formed in the waters east of Luzon Island on the morning of August 22. It is expected that this tropical depression will enter the eastern waters of the South China Sea at night, gradually intensify in strength, and may develop into the 13th typhoon of the year within the next 12 hours, gradually moving towards the southern part of Hainan Island. From August 23 to 25 at night, there will be a process of large to huge waves occurring successively in the northern part of the South China Sea and Beibu Gulf.
