The US sanctions two Chinese companies on the grounds of being involved with Iran, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly opposes.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over the regular press conference. The US Department of the Treasury recently imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies, claiming that they were facilitating the transportation of Iranian oil. What is China's response to this? Mao Ning stated that China has always resolutely opposed illegal unilateral sanctions that lack basis in international law and are not authorized by the United Nations Security Council. We also urge the US to abandon its erroneous practice of imposing sanctions at will. Mao Ning pointed out that countries conducting normal cooperation with Iran within the framework of international law is legitimate and reasonable. China will take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises and citizens.
