Canalys Chief Analyst Manish Pravinkumar said: "The demand for ultra-low-cost smartphones is reshaping the African market, with a 38% increase in models priced at $100 or less in the second quarter, and has been consistently driving down average selling prices since 2023." Transsion maintains its top position with 6% growth, despite TECNO's efforts in the mid-range market, Transsion still faces challenges in climbing up the value chain. Samsung expanded its market reach from South Africa to Egypt and Nigeria by local distribution, retail expansion, and the launch of budget-friendly models like the A06, with a 3% year-on-year growth. Thanks to strong growth in Nigeria and Egypt, proactive channel expansion, and deeper local investments, Xiaomi grew by 32% year-on-year, capturing the third position with a 14% market share. Honor, with popular entry-level and mid-range models like the X7c and 400 Lite, coupled with collaborations with carriers, further strengthens its momentum, currently contributing 64% of Honor's regional business in South Africa.
