Tesla did not submit the accident report in a timely manner, and the U.S. regulatory authorities launched a review of the company.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defects Investigation stated on August 19th local time that Tesla did not timely submit accident reports as required. As a result, NHTSA will initiate a review to assess the reasons and extent of potential report delays, as well as the mitigation measures taken by Tesla to address these issues. As part of this review, NHTSA will also evaluate whether there are still unsubmitted reports of previous accidents and whether the submitted reports include all necessary and available data.
