According to reports, informed sources revealed that CITIC Securities and other Chinese securities firms are once again increasing the salaries of junior investment bankers in Hong Kong in order to improve retention rates and cope with the surge in trading volume. The sources said that the largest Chinese securities firm is raising the salaries of employees at its Hong Kong subsidiary, CITIC CLSA Securities, by increasing the monthly salaries of some junior assistants by 15% to 30%, reaching around HK$75,000 to HK$80,000. One source said that this raise is not for all employees. Another source also mentioned that China Merchants Bank's subsidiary in Hong Kong, China Merchants Securities International, is also increasing the salaries of junior employees to a similar level; as the competition for talent intensifies, many other companies are considering following suit in raising salaries.
