Atlanta Fed President: Still expects one rate cut this year, focusing on labor market.
Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said that he still believes only one rate cut is needed this year, but added that the labor market trends "may be unsettling" and worth monitoring. "That remains largely my judgment," Bostic said at an event organized by the Metro Atlanta Chamber on Thursday, referring to his forecast in June. "But I have to say, in today's environment, any point forecast or outlook comes with a great deal of uncertainty," and "I won't stick to any particular view." Bostic does not have a vote on the Federal Open Market Committee this year. His remarks were made ahead of the global central bank annual meeting held later on Thursday in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with Fed Chairman Jerome Powell scheduled to speak on Friday.
