On August 21st, Malaysia's national oil company announced that unauthorized entities in China were raising funds from the public in the name of real estate projects, falsely claiming to be affiliated with the Malaysian oil group. The promotional materials even mentioned a development project called the "Malaysia National Oil Company/PETRONAS China Headquarters." PETRONAS has not initiated, approved, or participated in any asset development activities or fundraising plans in China. Any requests for funds related to such projects are fraudulent and have no connection to PETRONAS or its subsidiaries. PETRONAS is actively cooperating with Chinese law enforcement authorities, and the matter is currently under investigation.
