Over the past three years, Elon Musk has steadily entered the thriving in-flight Wi-Fi market, with his Starlink service signing contracts with several well-known airlines such as Air France, Qatar Airways, and United Airlines. Alaska Air Group announced on Wednesday that they will start installing the Starlink system from next year to provide onboard internet services. Virgin Atlantic reached an agreement in early July to use this satellite network owned by SpaceX. According to insiders, British Airways may also soon follow suit in using this service. However, Musk's sights are set on a bigger target: the Middle East, home to some of the trendiest airlines in the industry and a global hub for long-haul travel. It was previously reported that SpaceX has been in talks with Emirates, based in Dubai, which has the world's largest fleet of Boeing and Airbus long-haul aircraft. Musk's team has also been pitching the Starlink service to other airlines in the region such as Gulf Air and Dubai Aviation, and insiders reveal that they are currently in deep negotiations with Saudi Arabian Airlines, the third largest airline in the region.
