According to sources familiar with the matter, KKR has emerged as the leading bidder for the global headquarters building of Nissan Motor, the struggling automaker which is selling off assets to strengthen its finances. The sources stated that KKR's Japanese real estate subsidiary, KJR Management, has made a bid of around 90 billion Japanese yen for the 22-story office building, which is the highest among several investment companies. They said KKR and KJRM are considering ways to raise funds for the potential transaction, which includes leasing back the office building to Nissan for a period of 10 years. They added that negotiations are still ongoing and the parties involved may decide not to proceed with the deal. Representatives of Nissan and KKR declined to comment.
