According to recent reports from Korean media such as Yonhap News Agency, The Korea Times, and Maeil Business Newspaper, the South Korean government is exploring the possibility of implementing a "long weekend" system similar to that of the United States and Japan in order to stimulate consumption and boost the economy. This would involve adjusting some fixed public holidays to Mondays to create three-day long weekends. The policy discussion is said to have originated from a study commissioned by the South Korean Ministry of Planning and Finance to the Korea Institute of Personnel and Administration.
