A new study published in the international journal "Tobacco Control" shows that adolescents who use e-cigarettes are significantly more likely to smoke in the future, and are significantly associated with a variety of health problems. This large-scale comprehensive study was conducted by researchers from the University of York and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in the UK. The study analyzed 56 review studies on adolescents using e-cigarettes, covering 384 related independent studies. The results show that adolescents who use e-cigarettes are about 3 times more likely to become smokers in the future compared to those who do not use e-cigarettes. The analysis also found that using e-cigarettes increases the risk of young people developing respiratory diseases such as asthma, and is associated with health problems such as pneumonia and decreased sperm count. In addition, adolescent e-cigarette use is also associated with subsequent behaviors such as drinking alcohol and using marijuana.
