Tesla CEO Musk said that the company's new six-seater Model Y, launched in China this week, may not be produced in the United States due to the rise of autonomous driving cars. The Model Y L, manufactured at Tesla's Shanghai factory, was launched in China on Tuesday with a longer wheelbase, three rows of seats, and a price of around $47,200. "This variant of the Model Y will not start production in the US until the end of next year," Musk replied to a user's post, "But considering the emergence of autonomous driving cars in the US, it may never be produced." Musk did not elaborate on how the rise of autonomous driving will eliminate the demand for six-seater cars. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
