Penalties of 17.6 million yuan imposed, 25 people captured in Guangdong's special campaign to crack down on counterfeit and shoddy food in rural areas.

On August 20th, it was learned from the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Administration that this year, Guangdong has focused on six aspects including "characteristics of food production industry, centralized trading markets, low-price high-risk foods, high-risk foods sold in bulk, internet celebrity foods and new formats, as well as prominent categories of unqualified spot checks and complaints." They have rigorously cracked down on illegal activities such as "super excessive, non-compliant, infringement, counterfeiting, false advertising, production and sales of 'three no' and 'shanzhai' foods." They have penetrated the industry's hidden rules and formed a governance map. Following the strategy of "taking the initiative to monitor and identify risks, taking the initiative to carry out special governance, taking the initiative to strengthen risk communication," they have organized a comprehensive crackdown on counterfeit and shoddy food in rural areas throughout the province. Since the special rectification campaign, Guangdong Province has cumulatively investigated and handled 3656 cases of illegal activities, confiscated 17.6 million yuan, shut down 48 unlicensed production and operation businesses, cooperated with public security organs to destroy 7 counterfeit and shoddy production and sales dens, transferred 34 cases to public security organs, and arrested 25 criminal suspects.
