Monsoon rains in Pakistan have caused 706 deaths.
The National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan said on August 19 that in the past 24 hours, disasters caused by strong monsoon storms have resulted in 46 deaths. Since the onset of the monsoon season on June 26, monsoon rains have already caused 706 deaths nationwide in Pakistan. According to statistics released by the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been the worst affected, followed by the eastern province of Punjab. The causes of death are mainly due to house collapses, flash floods, and landslides caused by heavy rain. The National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan anticipates more rainfall in the coming days and urges residents in vulnerable areas to take precautionary measures.
