The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public not to consume, sell, or provide certain "Great Value" brand raw frozen shrimp sold at Walmart because they may be contaminated with cesium-137 (a radioactive isotope). The FDA stated in a news release that the warning applies to certain raw frozen shrimp products processed by Indonesian company PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS) and sold at Walmart. The news release stated that cesium-137 was detected in containers found at ports in Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, and Savannah, Georgia. The FDA collected samples for analysis and confirmed that one shrimp product sample contained the substance.
