Court extends ban on transfer of land at copper mine in Arizona, United States.
After the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States issued an emergency administrative order, environmental protection and tribal groups successfully further delayed the transfer of public land for copper mining in Arizona. On August 18, the appeals court issued a temporary order blocking President Trump's administration from handing over Oak Flat to the subsidiaries of the multinational mining companies Rio Tinto Group and BHP Group, known as Resolution Copper. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States stated in the temporary order, "We grant the temporary administrative order to maintain the status quo," while emergency injunction relief motions are still under consideration. The jury "did not express an opinion on the substance of the motion."
