Shanghai: Creating a Sustainable Wetland Economy.
Shanghai Municipal Committee Deputy Secretary and Mayor Gong Zheng presided over the executive meeting of the municipal government today, conveying and studying the spirit of the ninth plenary session of the State Council. It was required to do a good job in economic operation scheduling according to the deployment of the municipal committee, and to strive to achieve the economic growth target for the third quarter. Further efforts were needed to improve the quality of Shanghai's wetland spatial environment, and to accelerate the construction of a modern ecological environment monitoring system. The meeting agreed in principle to the "Action Plan for the Pilot Project of Wetland Spatial Planning and Construction in Shanghai", pointing out that wetlands are praised as the "kidneys" of the earth. It is necessary to pay more attention to following the laws of nature and creating wetland spaces that respect ecological laws, preserving the authenticity, integrity, and continuity of wetlands, and implementing classification protection and utilization according to local conditions. It is important to pay more attention to inclusive sharing, create a wetland aesthetic that is accessible and enjoyable to all, integrate the city, wetlands, communities, and other elements organically, and make wetland parks a green space shared by the people. It is also important to pay more attention to protection and utilization, to build a sustainable wetland economy based on ensuring the ecological security boundary of wetlands, and to create more chemical reactions between the "most southern" and "tide life".
