US intelligence chief: Britain has abandoned request for Apple (AAPL.US) to provide encrypted data "backdoor"
According to the Wise Finance app, US National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard has stated that the UK has "agreed to abandon" its proposal for Apple (AAPL.US) to create a "backdoor" to access encrypted data. In January of this year, the UK issued an order requiring iPhone manufacturer Apple to remove the most advanced encryption technology from user data stored on cloud services. The UK government hoped to access global user data, although officials from the UK have stated that they will not demand access to all user personal data, they will only request data related to serious criminal investigations, primarily terrorism and child abuse.
