After reaching a temporary agreement with the airline, Air Canada's flight attendants ended their three-day strike, which had led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights. The union's negotiating committee said in a post on its website that after more than 9 hours of mediation talks, the two sides reached an agreement early Tuesday morning. "The strike is over," the union said in a statement to its members, "we have reached a temporary agreement that will be submitted to everyone." Air Canada also stated that they plan to gradually resume flight services, with the first flights scheduled to depart on Tuesday night. The airline said, "Passengers can confidently book and board their flights." On Saturday, flight attendants went on strike due to issues related to wages and working conditions. This disrupted transportation at airports across Canada and forced the country's largest airline to retract its financial outlook for the year. The union ignored orders from the Canadian Labour Board to return to work, increasing the stakes in negotiations, but as both sides attempted to break the deadlock, talks resumed on Monday night. The Canadian Union of Public Employees' Air Canada component did not provide details of the temporary agreement, only stating that it was reached at 4:23 am local time. The union said, "We must inform all members that we must fully cooperate in the restoration of flight operations."
