The Aerospace Information Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced that at 15:33 Beijing time on August 19th, the "AIRSAT-05/Sea Sentinel II" satellite of China was successfully launched and entered its designated orbit at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The main payload of the satellite is an X-band multi-polarization synthetic aperture radar that supports multiple imaging modes, with a maximum resolution better than 1 meter and a maximum observation width of over 300,000 meters. It also integrates intelligent on-orbit processing modules to achieve high-quality on-orbit radar imaging and intelligent extraction of information on ice and sea. The satellite can also achieve two-way interconnection with ground mobile platforms, greatly improving the timeliness of remote sensing satellite observation services. It is understood that the satellite is part of the AIRSAT constellation operated by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Limited, and will play an important supporting role in applications such as marine environment and safety, polar scientific research and navigation, national resource survey, disaster response, and emergency preparedness (CCTV News).
