Kasten Brzeski, director of macroeconomic research at ING, said on the 18th that the latest trade data indicates that the United States' high tariff policy has impacted European exports. Brzeski said that data released by the EU statistics office that day showed the export situation in Europe after the first round of US tariff impacts. Overall, industrial data in Europe has been highly volatile in the first few months of this year. This is mainly due to companies exporting to the US ahead of the tariffs taking effect, and then reducing exports due to high tariffs. Brzeski believes that since the beginning of the year, factors such as the strengthening euro, US tariff measures, uncertainty in global trade prospects, and intense competition faced by European exporters could continue to weigh on European exports in the future. Data released by the EU statistics office that day showed that in June, Eurozone exports decreased by 2.4% compared to the previous month, while imports increased by over 3%, and the seasonally adjusted trade surplus narrowed from 15.6 billion euros in May to 2.8 billion euros. In June, EU exports to the US decreased by over 10% year-on-year.
