In the first half of this year, China's total import and export of sports goods exceeded 15.5 billion US dollars.
The State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on "achieving high-quality completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan" at 10 a.m. this morning, introducing the achievements in the construction of a sports power during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, China's sports industry has been steadily developing, with the total scale of the national sports industry reaching 3.67 trillion yuan by 2023, with an average annual growth rate of 10.3% and an added value of 1.49 trillion yuan. Led by competitive performance and fitness and leisure industries, the sports service industry has grown rapidly, with its proportion of added value in the sports industry increasing from 68.7% in 2020 to 72.7% in 2023. By the end of 2024, there were 146 national-level specialized and new "small giant" enterprises in the sports sector, more than double the number at the end of 2022. In the first half of this year, the total value of sports goods imports and exports exceeded $15.5 billion. The added value of the sports industry has been growing at an average annual rate of 11.6%, reaching 1.15% of GDP in 2023, moving closer to the goal of becoming a pillar industry. The scale of the ice and snow industry has increased from 381.1 billion yuan in 2020 to 970 billion yuan in 2024, with an average annual growth rate of 26.3%, transforming "cold resources" into a "hot economy." The total amount of sports consumption in 40 pilot cities increased by over 100 billion yuan from 2020 to 2023, showing the continued release of the potential of sports consumption.
