On the evening of August 16th local time, a Boeing 757-300 aircraft from Condor Airlines flying from the Greek island of Kos to Dusseldorf, Germany, shortly after takeoff, had flames coming out of the right engine. Passengers on board also heard "a series of explosions". According to reports, the pilot then stopped climbing at 8000 feet (about 2438 meters), shut down the engine involved in the incident, declared an emergency and diverted to Brindisi, Italy. The plane landed safely about 30 minutes later. There were no injuries to the 273 passengers and 8 crew members on board. The cause of the incident is currently unclear. (CCTV News)
