The American Steel Company stated that although a fatal explosion recently occurred, its Clairton Coke Works plant located in the south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will not be affected. However, the Associated Press reported on August 17th that this largest coke plant in North America, with a history of 110 years, faces issues such as high maintenance costs and design flaws, leading to doubts about its long-term sustainability.
