On August 18, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet, accusing it of engaging in anti-competitive behavior in agreements with Australian telecommunications operators Telstra and Optus for pre-installing Google Search services on Android smartphones. The ACCC stated that Google has cooperated with the regulatory investigation, admitted responsibility, and agreed to jointly apply to the Federal Court to acknowledge that it should pay a total fine of $55 million Australian dollars (approximately $35.8 million USD).
