African stock market closing report | South Africa's stock index increased by about 1.1% this week.
On Friday, the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Tradable Index fell by 0.07% to 94,498.38 points, with a cumulative increase of 1.08% for the week. It reached a new closing and intraday high on August 13th. The South African Rand has gained 0.89% against the US Dollar so far this week, currently trading above 17.60 Rand. The Stock Exchange of Mauritius SEMDEX Index has seen a 0.41% increase this week, while the Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index has dropped by 0.77% - remaining at high levels since reaching a historical high on August 8th. The Nairobi Stock Exchange All Share Index in Kenya has increased by 2.77% this week.
