U.S. Stock Market Anomaly | Chip Sector Sees General Decline, Micron Technology (MU.US) Drops Over 3%

As of the time of publication, Micron Technology (MU.US) fell over 3%, Broadcom (AVGO.US) and Nvidia (NVDA.US) fell over 1%, AMD (AMD.US) fell over 1.2%, and Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM.US) fell 0.44%. On the news front, U.S. President Trump stated that he will impose tariffs on semiconductors within the next two weeks, the latest sign that he is prepared to significantly expand the tariff system. Trump said on Air Force One on his way to a summit with Russian President Putin in Alaska on Friday, "I will determine the tariffs for steel and chips next week and the week after that. What I want to say is about chips and semiconductors, we will determine it next week or sometime in the following weeks." Trump said, "The tariff rate I am considering may be 200% or maybe 300%?"
