On August 15th, the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment jointly released a batch of typical cases linking ecological and environmental damage compensation with procuratorial public interest litigation, providing guidance for all levels of procuratorial organs and ecological and environmental departments to further standardize and strengthen the coordination of ecological and environmental damage compensation with procuratorial public interest litigation. According to reports, from January 2024 to July 2025, the national procuratorial organs handled a total of 86,000 public interest litigation cases in the field of ecological environment and resource protection, including 72,000 cases of administrative public interest litigation and 14,000 cases of civil public interest litigation; a total of over 7,500 public interest litigation cases were initiated, accounting for approximately 57.6% of all public interest litigation cases in this field. From January 2018 to July 2025, local ecological and environmental departments and other relevant departments nationwide handled a total of approximately 56,900 ecological environment damage compensation cases.
